Creative Endeavor Award for The Black Feminist Guide to the Human Body
Lisa B. Thompson’s choreopoem, “The Black Feminist Guide to the Human Body,” uses poetry and movement to confront the health disparities that affect Black women — including those who are highly educated and professionally successful. The performance centers the lived experiences of Black women artists and academics and invites audiences to reflect on aging, mortality and wellness as a collective, cultural experience.
